KOTSU, as is my understanding is at this, time means knack, as in the way a thing is done or a skill acquired by practice, often failure, until one finds the way for themselves and can understand and use it for themselves. The compilation below are from my notes, and contain things found for myself in my research or by others whom you may well have met in the dojo from time to time, and others you will have not. I hope they are of some use to you
Junan Taiso should be carried out in accordance with your own physical condition, and the surroundings that you have chosen to practice in.
The Kamae are an extension of our body language that reflects our feelings and intentions.
SHIZEN GYU UN RYU SUI Total body movement is refined for grace and naturalness in all actions, power becomes a result of mere movement, and evasiveness becomes a result of just a slight adjustment of body position.
KEN TAI ICHI JO The entire body movement and energy is used behind an attack, just moving the body in the correct way makes the punch, kick etc, devastating. There is no need to rely on muscular tension.
JIME Jime means to constrict or wring and does not necessarily have to attack the throat.
Use more than one strike, don't restrict yourself to just one way of punching. Short hooking punches work close up, but haymakers can be easily avoided. Remember the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Punch at weak points from as close as possible and as direct as possible.
Practice attacking two or three points at a time and don't confine yourself to one favourite technique.
Try to attack from the opponents blind or weak side.
If someone grabs you very hard and rigidly, you must gain control over his or her legs. If you are against a person with a more solid stance, you must use your body in a rhythmical attack.
Train Keri (kicking) throughout the three levels of Ten, Chi, Jin. Not only in actual kicking methods, but also from within techniques, testing kicks suitability to different situations (I.E. when or when not to kick)
